What is Honey Media Collective?

IMG_2826

The collective was started in 2018 with hopes to work along the intersections of popular culture and community based action and organizing. Currently the group serves as a space for young creatives interested in decolonizing and deconstructing their own works and other contemporary works, whether it be different types of art, writing or photography.

What do we really do?

IMG_2540

Tangibly our work comes in the form of original pieces, including drawings, short stories, poetry and photography, by contributors associated with the group. These pieces are meant to allow young creatives, particularly from underrepresented groups and communities, the opportunity to freely express themselves in unconventional ways through the process of decolonization.

What is decolonization?

IMG_4158

Decolonization is not a metaphor for personal epiphany or individual alternativity, but a collective processes used by groups to deconstruct and reclaim narratives, beliefs and ways of existing, which have been misconstrued and deliberately destroyed through the process of colonization and imperialism.
